Check out my Charging Station I built!!!!

I just got heavily into electric within the past week. Im using a Turbo 30 charger, and a 15 amp radioshack power supply for all my battery needs. One of the tracks i go to doesnt have tables and most people bring there own. Seeing as how I have a VW golf I dont think im gonna fit all my stuff in there with 2 people AND a pit table so I created what you see. The other reason I made this is because I HATE wires all over the place. The base is MDF board and i used hooks that you would hang things with to keep everything in place. I slipped some fuel tubing over them so everything fits tigher and is protected from getting scratched. The battery holder is sheet styrne and is mounted about 1/2 inch above the MDF to let air flow underneath it. There are also holes drilled in the styrne to promote cooling. The fan is mounted so when im charging/discharging my batts it keeps everything cool. It is a 12v brushless motor fan from radioshack that runs off the powersupply. I got a 50' extension cord and a holder so everything would be more organized at the track.

Here is why i built this with the fan:

I charged my battery the other day on my desk with no fan on it and it temped at 133* after about 40 minutes of charge. I stopped it and let them cool a bit and then finished the charge. Total time was about 49 minutes.

Right now my pack just peaked after 31 minutes of charging them at 6 amps with the fan on the full time and they are temped at only 107* !!!!! Thats a 26* difference in temp!!!

NOTE: Does that sound right...can my 3800 pack be fully charged at 6 amps after only 31minutes? I dont think there is a way to see how much capacity it put into them.

Overall I think that was worth the time i spent building it. If there is alot of interest I might make a how-to complete with pictures to post on here. Let me know what you all think.

Hope you like it

James

Oh and yes, the buggy has slicks on it!!!

Looks like a Red Green invention! Cooling ur packs while charging/discharging is bad! Decreases your runtime and increases ur internal resistance!

**If you made that cooking fan to prevent your packs from getting to hot.. Try lowering your delta peak mV. Should be 1-2mV per cell or 5-10mV per pack. Depending on how your charger measures it. You want your pack at about 125-130 when it stops charging.
