I've seen guys running reciever packs in their 4 cell cars. That way they don't have that race-losing issue you delt with... The same thing has happened to me in electric touring a few times. I had upgraded to mod class, but was still trying to use my batteries from the previous season of 19t...did not work. Now I have matched 3800s...problem solved.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the amp draw. It only happens in my electric car, my 8th scale buggy actually got pretty sluggish towards the end of a 15 minute main recently. I had topped it off before the race, and thought it had enough in it. When I later tried to cycle it, there were 0 mah left in it! (@ 1.05v per cell cutoff) It's a 1400 mah 5 cell, and should have made it through the night.

I figure having a low turn mod in my touring car, with it's large amp draw, might kill the battery's voltage enough to make the DSM kick. That's the only car I've had trouble with DSM in. Now that I have plenty of battery for the race, I never have that issue.

after having my DX3 for a bit now, I wouldn't go back to anything crystal based, even synthesized. I love my radio.

Personally I think the best money I ever spent on this hobby was the DX3. I had so much glitching going on after upgrading the parts to alum I could barely drive the truck but the DX3 totally cured the glitching and the range was unreal, way farther than any other (land) radio I've ever seen. I'm sold on the DX3 and DX2 and won't run anything else.

I wonder if Spektrum will be coming out with a Z-1 / EX-10 type model. That would be the ultimate radio.
