Default XXX-4 G+ OR ZX-5

Looking at either getting one of the two. Has anyone heard any comments about them?

Cheers

Inferno,

If you do a search you'll get quite a bit of information back. I've owned a G+ and it's a very fun car to drive on smooth tracks. However, it's fragile. The slippers commonly work their way loose and the front carriers are an absolute nightmare in that it takes nothing to break them.

I've never owned a ZX-5, but the word is that it takes a few hop-ups to get it to where it needs to be reliability-wise. Parts support for the ZX-5 is not as good as the G+, and unless you're driving a BJ4, parts support for a 4WD is a critical factor IMO.

If you can save up another $150 or so, I would strongly consider waiting for a BJ4. They are absolute tanks and the "cost to own" a BJ4 is significantly lower than any other (meaning that it's actually cheaper, even though the initial price is higher). This is because you rarely break anything. There used to be A-arms issues, but they've long since been resolved. I drove a BJ4 for some time and I'd own one again in a heartbeat if I was racing 4WD. In the time I owned one, I spent less than $30 on replacement parts. It's THAT durable.

The BJ4 is the best, hands down. The XXX4 has fragile arms, and towers.

I notice that the BJ4 W.E is out but uses a different chassis layout. Is the BJ4 discontinued becuase of the W.E as I would perfer the BJ4 chassis layout over the BJ4 W.E

Cheers

The new BJ4 WE has better weight distribution and apparentally handles better in basically all conditions. The layout on the original looks easier to work on for sure though.

Hmmm, well I guess your screwed then, lol! Unless you can get a used BJ4. Or you could go back to the Kyosho or Losi. From everything I've read though they are both very fragile cars. 80% of the posts/threads about the ZX5 I see are about breaking stuff.

Don't they make the BJ4 anymore? Only the W.E?
