Default Charging/discharging Sigle Cells

Can I use a C-Cell battery clip like from Radio Shack to cycle single cells?

rc cells are sub c cells . So a c cell clip will be too big .

Would that REALLY be hard to overcome? I would think just stretching the spring contact would work. I was just wondering if it was ok "electrically".
