Ya I have seen the newer pics of it now. It looks like a K2 copy except for the pivot ball front the rear is identical now. It will be interesting I just wish Mugen could come up with their own ideas for once. I really like the truck I have but lets face it, it is a copy.

Kingz, check Mugen's web site. They have better pics. Copy, no, it's completely different. There NOT the same. Only thing that's the same is, it 's a 4wd buggy. The Mugen should be one to beat this year. That buggy looks nice. It will have alot of hop-up options included, just like the XR did.

Here are some of the "INCLUDED" hop up parts for the X5...

1. Big Bore shocks
2. Braces front and Rear
3. Aluminum center diff mount
4. 3 different rear toe adjustments 2, 2.5, 3 degrees
5. grafite radio and front braces
6. adjustable turnbuckles
7. Mugen's new break disc and special pad
8. Aluminum clutch shoe with 1.0 spring
9. machined internal diff gears (thats right, machined, not cast)
10. low cg fuel tank
11. machined engine mounts
12. pipe guard
13. dished wheels
14. World Champion Pro-line m2 Crime Fighters
15. lexan body

all this and i think it will still be about 80 to 100 bucks cheaper
than a K2. the kit will have standard diffs f/c/r so you dont have to
fork over another 150 bucks like the K2.

Also TTR and the EB4 will be getting a face lift as well. S3 in the works. Richard Saxton will be running and working for Thunder Tiger this coming season. I always thought he was faster with a EB4. Not sure if he is working for RE now or not.

Hmmm, interesting.

Given the developments the UK team have been working on this represents a possible step backwards. The move to MP7.5-style pivot pin holders mean there is no option to adjust the roll centre of the car. The UK team were raising the XR's aluminium holders up from the chassis some 3-4mm!!! From what both they, and others who made these adjustments, have said the handling was much improved by this.

Also, I dread to think what will happen to the steering servo when it gets wet and muddy. Who elso has experienced the build-up of mud around the steering servo area due to the wheels forcing it under the bodyshell and through the cutouts for the steering linkages?

Nice to see they have kept the front pivot balls though.

Tell me straight from you XR owners....
Since the X5 is coming out.....what were the flaws and negative stuff on the XR X4?(Be honest) ....Is there gonna be an upgrade kit for the X4 owners? Is this a whole new buggy?

I own a relatively stock XR. I would go for the X5 if I were in your position. The X5 has a lot new stuff like the chassis, upper deck, and the rear suspension. (Not sure about the front.)

The stock XR shocks are not the big bore type that the X5 includes and in an hour long main, they will lose their consistancy and are less durable. Big bore shocks are already $85-100 for a set of 4. I've also heard that the stock diff rings can wear easily with high powered engines (I run a mildly ported OS .21RG.) Other than that, I hadn't had any problems with my XR. Its really one tough buggy.

as far as i can remember i never broke any parts during racing on my mbx4xr last season

once i was breaking my engine in a park/parkinglot and hit rear wheel on a big piece of concrete hard real hard it kept going but a minute or 2 later i noticed rear wheel was sitting funny i found i had broken a hinge pin if it had been a qualifier i may have finshed

i upgraded to big bore shocks also but honestly never had a problem with the stock shocks i was just taking the advice of other mugen drivers who told me they were better

i never blew a diff but i saw quite a few blow on other racers cars
i think they needed to be setup according to manual whereas the guys i saw blowing them alot were adding shims inside the cases

mbx5 is a whole new car from the pictures the only things that look the same are the front arms and hubs and chassis braces everything else looks different

I think you will be fine. I know a few guys who still run the original MBX4 and they can still get parts or so I've been told.
