Hi Chris
there are no cheap esc in Aust and when you do pay big buck's they can be just as crap as a cheapie. It depends on your motor and that is a price factor.I've brought the apex esc and found the $80 one for a 10 turn motor and up, lasted longer than the $120 for no motor limit , and I was running [racing] a stock 27 turn motor. Now I've got a Novak GTS 12 turn limit,to run my stock motor and maybe use a spec 19 turn motor too.
I borrowed a friends duratrax speedie [auto sport fwd rev intellispeed]and it was a cheapie from the USA for about $40 US and I found it to be ok for what I wanted it for.The best thing to do is stick with the known brands Ie Novak,Lrp,and others [tekin] as I hope they are better made.Try and read up on them too and see what other guy's use.
see ya timmey
