Best brushless motor, for truck??
Looking to put a brushless set up in a mf2, I have herd a lot of people say they are like light switches for the powerband. anyone have any expereince with them, a lot of guys around here have the shoultsie set up. seem like a light swith when i drove one.

I use an LRP Sphere and LRP VECTOR in my off-road buggies and the throttle is super smooth through the whole power range, even from a stand still I can make the car cralw along nice and smooth.
I can't see it being any differant in a truck

I use the Novak SS+ in my XXX-T. I use the S5800 motor and it feels fine. I can also crawl along very smooth or gun it and take off like a bat outtahell. The powerband is very broad just like the LRP. 1024 steps, I believe.
The only drawback is in stock mode with the 5800. It uses the same torque, but limits the RPMs to 24000 or so. The speed control has to constantly cut the off the throttle to keep the RPMs at the 24000 level. This hurts when you hit a big jump and the throttle cuts off for a second. It'll most likely flip. I imagine the 4300 motor may take care of this since it is designed to be comparable to a stock motor anyway.
In full brushless mode, there are no complaints at all.

I know lots of guys love the SS5800 in there AE T4s and Losi's.
They all say they get more runtime on packs, and they like the progammable esc with different profiles.
Novak has a new GTB(Or GT somthing) coming out...Its Brushless and Brushed so you can choose either or. This is especially helpful if Brushless is legal at club races and illegal at big races. Plus if a brushed/brushless motor has somthing wrong with it you can run the other.
The LRP sphere is just like this too.

D Mac- What's up Dave...
Remember that you need to tell these guys that it will be running for 20 minute mains, lol. And ask if their systems can run for 20 minutes with no problems (like thermaling). And that you will be using a 8000 Mah Li-Po.
You can drive mine anytime and see how it is.
See you at the track.
For everybody else I run a Schulze U-Force 75 and Plettenberg Extreme motor in a Losi MF1.

Have the GTB in a Losi BK-2, and love it. Bought the Velocity 5.5 to make it a missle. I own two SS5800's system and it just didn't brake very well. GTB is the route I would go. P.S. I had to remove the fan to fit it in the buggy because it started breaking fan blades, and so far it hasn't overheated..

Sensorless systems like the Lehner, Feigao etc can be run on more cells, but may not feel as smooth as a sensored system.
If i were to buy a new BL system it would be the Novak GTB. Regardless of its 6 cell limit.

Team Duratrax is correct about the sensorless systems not as smooth on throttle response as the sensored systems. But has anybody with the new novak GTB or LRP Sphere run them for over 20 minutes with a 6000 or 8000 Li-Po battery? I am wondering how they will hold up with the extra run time with a Li-Po battery (heat wise, thermaling, etc)?

With a B-4 I can run strong for 18 min with a Neo ! (3300)
Sometimes after practice, I check the clock & I`v been on the driver`s stand over a 1/2 hr. But this is cus of a few crashs ect....
The temperature of my Neo after a full battery pack run, is around 140 degrees , the controller is a bit less around 130 degree.....
If I installed the fan , it would run even cooler....

Wild Cherry or Doug would you get more punch from the 3300 versus the lipo?????
Wild Cherry what would you compare it to as far as a brushed motor in terms of turns
thanks

Dave- You will get more overall power out of the Li-Po. I have ran both a 3300 and a Li-Po with the brushless system I have and I know that the Li-Po gives me more punch and top end. That is because the Li-Po is 7.4 V vs. the 3300 that is 7.2 V. If you go witht the 3300's you will probably need 3 of them to get you through the race day (even running one of them twice, 3 Q's + mains). With the Li-Po you will only need one (1st charge with the li-po will get you through 3 Q's then repeak for main). The cost will be about the same for them, 3- 3300's or 1- 8000 2S- Li-Po. I like the Li-Po because I don't have to worry about making run time for the longer mains (20 minute or 30 minute) running a truck. Although you will need a charger that is Li-Po specific, but I know that you don't have any electric gear so you would need to buy a good NiMh battery charger anyways. I really like the Astro Flight 109 for charging Li-Po's. I would say if you run both 3300's and Li-Po's get the ICE charger as it will do both and is a good charger.

Doug the Neo is a very, very, fast 10 turn !
I don`t know why you would have the need for extra capacity. Already have my arm coming off my shoulder`s ,steering hand & finger`s going so numb I can`t even feel um , ect....
But the LY-PO`s do look interesting....
I myself would`nt even care for the extra capacity compared to being able to reduce weight for a increase in conner speed performance...
There`s other benafits using the Neo & Sphere...
Lighter motor compared to brush, means more sidebite & smoother though the bumps .
Then the brakes, they are unbelievable , way smoother then a brush motor ...
Take my advise , get a Neo brushless as soon as you can .....

hey guys having problems with my sphere.it sets up fine on the bench.when i put it on the ground and punch it it loses power to the reciever,no steering or throttle

Indaway - I assume your running spektrum... you need to get the optional capacitor for the RX...
I was searching and I had seen it posted for someone else who had the same problem...
