Cleaning bearings
Hello. I'm new to all this.
I stupidly ran my Dark Impact in the mud yesterday because of my excitement.
Whats the best way to clean bearings?
products and methods.
Thanks in advance.
Also thanks to bender for his tips and DI site.

first, wipe all the dirt off the outside of the bearings
but i need to know if these are metal covered or teflon covered bearings.
for metal covered, i just take em out, wipe down the outside grime, spray em down with a lil bit of motor spray and relube them with a little pencil-like thing that is filled with oil, and run the oil where the bearings are. the oil then just soaks into the bearing.

Thanks RC Guru.
They're just metal case standard bearings.
When you say motor spray you mean like WD-40, the stuff for rusted parts, starting wet engines, protecting from rust?

I would asume that he is talking about the motor spray that is used to clean electric motors, its probably sold at your hobby shop for about 6 bucks a can.

I've got the same problem right now on my XXX-4 G+, I've got teflon & metal bearings. I used to use buggy blast... but I can't get ANY..ANY electric motor cleaner here in germany, and no one will ship airisole (SP?) here from the states. So is there some backyard method on cleaning bearings... I know you can use gasoline but will it be safe on the teflon?

I like useing some Simplegreen and an air compressor to clean my cars off. Then I mist the chassis with a little wd40 and then wipe it all down

I just oil them with some of my electric motor bearing oil.

You should wipe them off first.

I have been using simple green/ air compressor for the past two years. I have not had any problems yet. The car comes out clean as new and ready for more.

Just keep the simplegreen away from your clutch if you have a nitro car. It ruined my clutch bearings once. Because simplegreen is basically water and water and bearings dont mixed, I dont think it would be a good idea to oil clutch bearing but dont quote me on that.
