Default piston direction traxxas 2.5

OK dont mean to sound stupid but does anyone know which direction the notch in the piston skirt shoulf face...toward the clutch bell side or the exhaust side....thanks

I am not 100% in your case but the notch most always faces the clutch bell side. This is to make room for it to clear the crank. As well the back plate usually has a cut in it to make room for the piston.

Just as a tip make sure you have the piston at TDC before you put the backplate back on or you might crack the piston.

the cutout in the piston is suppose to be lined up with the boost port.,,(the 2nd biggest port,not the exhaust port)

On the TRX 2.5 the piston can only go two ways, with the notch in the piston skirt to the front of the engine (clutch bell) or rear (exhaust) it goes toward the exhaust.

Check out the traxxas site for the PDF exploded view of the engine, it will give you a detailed set of instructions on how to service the engine and put it back together properly.
