Default Newbie needs help with buying car

Hi everybody I am brand new to the r/c scene and looking for some help on my first car purchase. I am not looking to spend a huge amount of money on my first car since i am not an expert and do not expect to heavilly abuse my car (or at least not intentionally) however i do want something that i can find parts for because obviously parts will break.
I have been looking at the Tornado XP by redcat racing. can anyone comment on this car? is this a wise choice? of course i notice a large price difference between this and better known names and i am keeping in mind that you get what you pay for but keep in mind i have never had a nitro car and just want to try it out. BUT I also want to avoid buying a piece of junk.
your replies would be very much appreciated! THANX!

What do you want?

Nitro or Electric?

Offroad or Onroad?

Monster Truck, Buggy, Stadium Truck, Truggy?

18th, 10th, 8th, 5th scale?

Whats your price range?

Do you plan on racing or bashing?

Does your LHS have part support for this car?

Tell us a little more on what you want so we can help you

The Tornado XP i have been looking at is a 1/10 scale nitro buggy which will not be used for racing, just for fun. i only know of one LHS which is located about forty-five minutes away from me and have not been in contact with them yet thats why im asking here if anyone has owned or used one of these cars. they are made by redcat racing. ive found this car online on several sites with an average price of around $200. i would like to spend only $200-$300 since i am new to the scene. i hope this was a little more helpful and thanx again.

since your new..why not go electric?

ive seen some decent brushless ARTR(almost ready to run) go for around 200 bucks...but the T4 RTR should be perfect for u. all you need then is batteries and a charger.

i know at first it is expensive, but electric is easier cleaner, and with a brushless system if you save your money later on, it can be just as fast as nitro.
note: i have a brushless bk2, and my friend's 1/8th scale nitro buggy (hyper 7) bows down to it.

but if you insist on nitro..
check on ebay..there are tons of nitro cars out there.

Odds are your lhs won't carry parts for the tornado. Your best bet will probly be to try and find a used rc10 gt made by team associated. Try to get something that will leave you with $$ incase the engine or something is messed up and needs to be replaced.
