Arrow 1/8 buggy

looking to buy 1/8 buggy in near future. this would b my first nitro. i will b doing more bashing than racing but i would like to race occasionally. lookin to spend round 3-350 (for just buggy-not accessories). RTR. saw HB lightning RR- i like that and also Ofna Ultra LX Pro RTR w/ .25. if theese r the only two that fit my specifications than which should i get. i found lightning for 309 and LX for 299 so those r good prices for me.

I too was looking at buggies a month ago. I went with a ofna 9.5 RTR, I know they make a pro kit you assemble which is cheeper, I didnt want to build it, so the RTR was for me. I ended up selling the Radio out of it for about $50 on ebay which brought the total investment price down. I've read the Hyper 7 is also a very good buggy to have. I'm not sure how the GT LX Pro is, most go for the top ofna's for bashing, and light racing. If you want to read more stuff on these buggies go to www.maxxtraxx.com and read the 1/8 scale forum there, alot more people go there to post things than this forum site.
Make sure you visit www.nitrohouse.com and www.ultimatehobbies.com for prices as well as a few others in the magazines.

i think since you think you may race it some that you should get the hyper7 rtr or 9.5 rtr spending a little more now could pay off in the long run

after i got my first buggy (gs storm rtr) i was hooked on 1/8 but the storm was easily broken so i had to upgrade to a mbx4xr i wish i had bought the good stuff the first time

hyper 7 and 9.5 would be easily upgraded to full blown race buggies far easier than the other you mentioned

racing and bashing are alot more fun when parts breaking isnt a problem and if car handles well you will break less

I race a inferno mp-7.5 kanai 2 and think it is the best thing since sliced bread. Its a ton of money but for me it was worth it. As for the rtr I agree that the ofna's are most likely the best in that catagory. The rtr's are full of problems but most of them are eaisily fixed with some time and experience.

Tambok - I just started building an XR Works and it's pretty nice. I have friends that run the XR, Kanai and K2 buggies and none of them are dissappointed with either buggy. The XR is getting replaced but that doesn't take away the fact that it's pretty good. Just means you should be able to find one at a really good price right now. If I had the money, I think I would have gone with a K2 though.

How would the OFNA Hyper 7 and 9.5 compare to the Mugen MBX4 XR handling-wise?

Hey there jason102276, you had a GS Storm buggy before...how do you compare it with the Hyper 7 Pro? I am planning to go into 1/8 buggies and still considering which one to get cos my LHS have loads of spares for these 2 makes of buggies. Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

both the gs storm or hyper 7 are both kyosho copies

the pro versions of either are probably very nice ive heard good things about them both

i had a original gs storm rtr and it broke often i have heard that the first ones were easily broken and that the later version of that car was fixed with a better plastic

i would think either pro version to be good cars and if parts were equally available i would make my decision on price and how much setup help i could get from other drivers in my area

i believe the hyper 7 pro comes with a few things that are really nice to have like torsion diff and allen drivers

as far as their handling vs mbx4xr ive heard the hyper 7 handles very much like the kyosho 7.5 which ive been told is better than the mbx4xr i dont know anything first hand because ive only ever driven the mbx4xr and storm i never made it to the track with the storm either i like the way my mbx4xr handles it turns really well but i am not sure its as stable as the 7.5

i think it really all depends on the setup my mbx4xr was easy to drive with the kit setup and ive only made minor changes from that

to be quite honest i know 10x the amount of touring car setup as i do offroad i just started offroad racing last year after i got the mbx4xr basically i just asked other racers what they were using and tried it

offroad is much more about your driving ability then the car setup it has been alot of fun also i did pretty well in my area races but i could still use alot of practice i can go to most any local big race in touring car and make the a-main in offroad i would consider myself to be lucky to get into the a-main but i have done it
