well i am glad they are trying some new ideas. i tried this about two years ago. its easy to reverse the tranny and make a motor plate. the hard part for me was the shock tower. wish i had access to a mill. but to get the motor lower you will have to mount the batteries side ways. i also ran a xx4 with only rear wheel drive. i couldn't figure out how to mount a xxx front end to the chassis. needed a mill again.

Well, if you look back to the mid to late 80s and even early 90s dirt oval, the Sinclair's didn't come up with this idea either. Mid-motor conversions and designs have been around for a long time, but it seems that with the traction found on today's hard-pack clay style "off road" tracks, you need more front end weight to get the cars to turn.

Everyone is always testing new ideas, we'll see if this one sticks.

you would be wrong to not buy a XXX-CR just because of a few pictures.

just like you would have been wrong not to buy a xx4 after seeing the 'Proto-X or JRX-4' run at the worlds.

the XXX-CR and the XX-4 are winning most things in the UK, xxx4 is still very strong on some US tracks.

The xx-4 would already provide a good lay out for a 2wd mid drive buggy. Not to mention the belt would be much smoother then a gear transmission which would pay big dividends in off road.

Any one notice how much narrower the buggy looks then their typical xxx buggies?

It's just a hacked-together car to try stuff. They're not currently running the car for testing purposes in the U.S.

You can't learn if you don't try things. If spy pictures existed of everything Losi, and other companies, tries that don't make it to production, you guys would have a field day.

I wouldnt call these cars hacked together at all personally having seen them.

here is another Mid car.. this is nothing to do with the other two, this uses a normal bk2 chassis but hacked up like aaron says.

OK, maybe "hacked" wasn't the right word to use..haha. But the purpose is still the same...you gotta try to stuff to learn. Don't expect a mid-motor Losi buggy any time soon, investing in the XXX CR isn't a bad thing.

With the shape of those cars they look more like an xx-4 or xxx-4 w/ a 2wd front end. As far as the cars are concerned. The conventional layout will still probly be better suited for a lower traction out door track.

Looks like Chris' car is running saddle packs (peaking through the windows), with the Rx in front of the pack. The narrow chassis is attractive, and I think a 3x3 may be more practical than the X6's 4x2 layout, just for the width alone. Hmmm... take one Losi BK2, add a little Durango 4wd and a touch of XX4 and you might be on to something there.

Centered, narrow, balanced and low. Seems like a reasonable place to start to me.
