Default Lubing Joints

Rookie question:

I'm building my first car, a Losi XXX4.

Do you lube any of the joints (suspension, axles, tie rods, etc.) during or after construction? The instructions do not call for it (except the CVDs), and dirt and oil/silicon/wd-40/etc don't mix. But I'm a rookie.

If so, what's the preferred lubricant?

Thanks.

If the instuctions don't call for it, don't lube it. Any lube will pick up dirt, this will cause a sand paper effect. I would pack your differentials with a heavy duty, all purpose grease.

Default Do you lube any of the joints

jforkner;

I would not lube any of the plastic joints for the same reasons that nitro dipstick stated. BUT, putting some kind or lube on the Bone to OutDrive contact points will greatly extend the life of these parts. I have been doing it for years on ALL of my Cars and Trucks and it really helps keep the wear to a minimum. Metal to Metal (moving) contact, without some kind of lubrication is never a good thing.
