To be honest, I don't even understand your question... legal in what way? And why should it not be?

Maybe I am missing something, but where in the ROAR rules does it mention required servo size?

Never heard of any rules about servo size, anywhere. And why should there be?

Going to go out on a limb a bit here and I am sure this will be corrected if not accurate... The OP may be familiar with the early days of LiPo 'shorty' batteries where organizational rules still required the chassis support full size (i.e. the older 6 cell sub C size) pack lengths. It took the rules a bit of time to catch up to technology+trends.

Yup, I remember tip-toeing back in about 2010, coming from 1989-90 circa R/C world ... OP's question is the 'type' (or better) than the several dozen I was asking those days, whole different world ...

Anyways, like gee-dub said, there was a rule that prevent manufactures from designing the chassis for just the shorty battery before it got popular. If you remember the RC10B5M, it still has the full size saddle pack battery compartment.

I think IFMAR/ROAR doesnt want manufactures to design a vehicle that requires a specific type of equipment. I couldnt find anything on servos, thats why i am asking

Did you try to read the rule books about this? Anyting that is not listed is basically allowed.

About servo's in most rulebooks there is written only one thing: no gyro system.

One difference, servo's do come in many sizes for many years.Even far before the shorty was introduced.

yes, youre right. but what if the vehicle requires a L shaped servo and i am the only brand that makes it or better yet the servo is intergraded into the steering mechanism of the vehicle?
