Default HPI Jumpshot SC V1 ESC overheating

Hi! new to the forums here. I got a gen 1 HPI Jumpshot SC completely stock since day 1. It's around 2 years old now but i havent played it in around a year. Before I stopped playing arnd a year ago i noticed the power would just cut off when i throttle it more than 1/4 a way. Yesterday I picked it up again no issue, today i tried it was okay for a short while then the old problems came up again. Did a bit of digging and from what I see the ESC seems to be going into overheat protection even after a couple minutes of playing. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
