Default Gforce Genova 2WD Buggy Kit

https://www-gforce--hobby-jp.transla..._x_tr_pto=wapp

Interesting rear motor buggy kit. Layout gives off strong Durango DEX210 vibes. I wonder if there will be US availability. Looks like it could fit a hole in the sub $200 market for a 2wd buggy that can be built from a kit. There's nothing out there at the moment other than Tamiya stuff and this looks a good bit more sporty and conventional than Tamiya buggies. ¥29,800 is about $220 USD, but it might end up cheaper if imported stateside since we don't have VAT?

This was announced back in april/may. Impatiently waiting for them to hit the states, definitely want to pick one up. Super classic design, love it!

That body reminds me so much of the original RC10! It looks sooo much better then the new cab forward stuff.

Searching for the Gforce Genova yielded results for a JEGS RTR buggy. It looks to be the identical platform with a much, much uglier body. The body, wheels, and tie rods are different but if you compare replacement parts, they're identical:

So the JEGS version is RTR (minus battery and charger) for just over $150... and all you appear to lose is adjustable tierods? (And they have full RTR combos). Sounds like some cheap fun!

The JEGS Buggy doesn't look bad. Maybe try to fit the RB10 body to it if you don't like the looks of the stock onr

The product page says "A nostalgic body and wings supervised by Masami Hirosaka". So all he did was the shell, and the rest of the car is vanilla offbrand budget buggy? trackdesigner71 is right: buy the JEGs version and add your own body.

Masami definitely going old school throwback to the original RC10 days with the Mirage/Viper inspired body. And some optional gold threaded big bores that completes the look (pics at RCCA). I kinda like it. Even with all the plastic fantastic car still looks capable on a "real" outdoor offroad track. Long wheelbase but still enough steering, jumps well. Looks stable and easy to drive. There's some video with WC Hayato Matsuzaki turning laps...

What does Masami have to be ashamed of? How is this pathetic?

Nothing to be ashamed of: he helped with the aesthetics and made a deal to be part of the marketing. Good for him! And it was a clever idea by Gforce to include him to generate some buzz!

Nobody promised he developed the whole thing himself - so it doesn't matter if JEGS has been selling this platform as an RTR for a couple months. Gforce is including a better body, adjustable tierods, universals, full bearings, and what I think are better rims. Plus they're offering it as a kit: which a lot of people prefer!

I wish them luck: I bet we see quite a few JEGS Stingers with the Genova upgrades on them.

This is just a job for Masami, an employment contract. Plus it is a r/c related project, an added bonus. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Agreed...Masami's legacy is set. All time leader in IFMAR World Championships, Greatest 10th scale offroad driver of all time, untold All Japan national championships, 2 Reedy Race Championships...and a sought after referee for IFMAR Championships. He has nothing to prove and nothing to be ashamed of
