Default Powering fan for motor

Just getting into racing seriously, I’ve got a fan on my ESC powered by the ESC. I want to run a fan on my motor, where can I tap into power for that?

Your receiver.
It should just plug in

Perhaps there are some instructions or a tutorial for this? Sorry if I look too silly.

If you're running a race vehicle, where your servo and ESC plugs in, there is usually at least 1 extra port. The fan plugs in there in most cases. If you are running an RTR or basher type vehicle to get started, there may not be an extra port. You can tap the fan into the battery connector and run it direct. It takes more work as you'll have to solder it into the ESC side of the battery connector. A slightly better option could be a "y" harness on your servo or ESC connection to the receiver.

Or if you want more power solder directly to the + - on your esc. 8.4v vs. 6v.

What kind of car do you have?
Or receiver. If there is a way to posts pics of your setup that would help. Right now it’s just a guess on what to do based on what you might have.

There is no standard

1) If Rx has an extra port you can use that, or use a Y-harness to share the same port that is powering your transponder
2) Some ESC's have a programmer port which can also be used
3) Some people wire directly to the bullets so when they plug in their ESC the fan turns on instantly, many racers prefer this method so they can turn off their ESC/Radio after a race and allow the fan to continue cooling the motor while they are marshaling

the possibilities are endless

Yes, i also solder directly to bullet connectors to battery. Love being able to leave fan running while car is off to continue allowing motor to full cool. All other options also work well.
