the tank of the 8ight will be delivered all finished
that's why the internal mounting isn't mentioned in the manual

I've heard Losi was having quality control parts with a production vendor and the clutch (or part of it). I guess this makes sense, since eveyplace that has 8ight parts, has no clutch parts.

Anyone heard this?

I could care less why it's taking so long.....as long as it's right. Yes, I'm just as antsy as all of you to get mine, hahaha.

I know from the test 8ight that RC Driver had, the aluminum clutch shoes wore very quickly and Losi said the material would be changed for the kits. I also heard (confirmed) that Horizon starts shipping kits to hobby shops next Wednesday.

Anyone here can explain which kind of lutch system coes with the eight ?, and if you can use a normal 3-4 shoes one ? (are the CB's special pitch or any common CB will fit the spur ?).

thanks,

The 8ight comes with 2 alum and 2 carbon/plastic shoes. The alum shoes have gold springs and the carbon shoes have silver shoes. As stated above losi is made a change to the carbon shoes for the kit based on on-track performance - yet to be seen exactly what comes with the kit.

By using a mix of alum and carbon shoes, losi was able to get a good mix between punch (all alum shoes) and slipping like plastic / carbon shoes do. On a three clutch system, if your shoes aren't the same weight, you will ruin your clutch bearings (and probably your crank and crank bearings too). the four shoes allow racers to pick 4 plastic, 4 alum or a compromise in between.

I haven't seen the clutch bell, so I can't say that they are not compatible with other 1/8s. I can't imagine that Losi would you a different pitch or size that wouldn't be compatible. Though, if Losi thinks they have an idea, it's not passed them to go against the grain.

the losi clutch bells look the same, but I think they are a little bit different. The eight uses a 5x13 bearing instead of the standard 5x10 on the INSIDE of the clutchbell.

Check out horizon's website for a tour of the eight, has a good pic of the clutch setup.
