With all the top drivers who live down south and the name that is Socal, I thought that place would be around forever.
So whats the official reason?
Not enough business or rising costs of property? Both?

I heard the lease was up and the new owner of the land wanted a lot more than what they had been paying. They have been month to month since April I believe and with property value at an all time high it must be tough to make money running a track.

Prime beach area ? stuffed behind a Pep Boys in a building that is literally falling apart... c'mon people. The rent simply went up and Jim and Lana obviously were not profiting enough otherwise, there was no real reason to close down.

The rent went up alright, from what I heard it doubled. I also heard that the owner of the property is going to level the whole thing and redevelop it. Who knows what the real story is, although time will tell on the redevelopment.

Well you know how things are around here. They just put a walgreens across the street so that means a CVS should be across from it. I dont recall seeing a Starbucks in visual range either so who knows. The redevelopment story sounds about right.

Guys not all is lost. We will all miss So Cal dearly. R/C is not dead in southern california. Pegasus is running a great program and is not that far a drive. I am hearing other rumors about another electric program that may happen closer to home. So Cal closed not due to lack of support but a lack of a location. Further more the JBRL had another 200 entry event this past weekend. Check out Pegasus next time you are free on a sat. It is a great program and a fun track.
