I'm serioulsy thinking about it. I've been doing really well with this thing. I don't own a motor home but wonder if I could do one of those rentals and just have them deliver it to the track and pick it up there as well. I hear the weather will be the polar opposite of the Shootout. I can handle cold better than hot. (Remember I grew up on the East Coast.) Are you going?

I have been there the last 5 years. Do not plan on stopping this year. Yeah the weather is cold and usually wet!

You will only need to compete against 170+ other monster trucks with that thing! It will tell you where you really stand. It should be fun though. That is a top notch race. They claim it to be the largest gas race of the year. With over 280 8th scales 170 monster trucks and about 100 10th scale gas trucks I think that is one race that is hard to beat. It is a 4 day event as well. Monster trucks run quals on Thurs with finals on Sat and 8th scale qual on friday with mains on sunday.

I am expecting the nitro challenge to happen again this year. The rumor I heard when The Dirt was sold is that Joey still planned to host all the large gas races at Hemet Race Park. We should hear of details of this race soon. It is typically around late Jan to mid Feb.

Ok here is the low down I have heard about Hemet/Nitro Challenge-

The actually track/land that the Dirt is on is owned by the City. The whole deal was in Joey's dad name. Joey was able to use the land and was not supposed to make money from doing it. Sometime after this years nitro challenge, Joey went about getting everything switched into his name, and that is when suspicion arose about him making money there. At that point, he was no longer able to run the track and it was taken over by someone else. The name was changed from "The Dirt" to Hemet Race Park. Now with this fallout in the way, and a new AWESOME track in Phoenix (area), which they had some conceptual help with from Joey (I believe), it looks like a good chance the race can end up there instead. The track is AZ is call "The Pit" and is supposed the best the most dialed track, it had its "Grand Opening" race this past weekend.

All of this is what I heard from one person or another and I cannot personally confirm it, although I believe it to be fairly accurate (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it!).

That sucks. I liked it at The DIRT (ok Hemet Race Park). I heard about the reasons Joey had to give up the track but I heard he was still going to be the promoter for the large events like the nitro challenge and the sat series etc. I hope I do not have to drive out the AZ to race this event. Just means longer drive time and a track I have never seen. According to the pro-line web site it is at the Dirt until further notice.

Both Sgrid and proline are saying the race is at The Dirt. No fliers can be found yet though. I guess we will have to wait and see. Does The Pit have a web site yet? Where in AZ is this place?
