I was wondering this as well..I have family in So Cal, and run here in AZ at SRS.. I run a 10.5/Lipo B4/T4.. looking to bring my stuff out on one of my trips... what are the turnouts like at So Cal?

There is not a 10.5/19t class at socal. I am not sure on the rules in stock as I only run mod..

I am not sure there are many rules in stock at socal. I think 13.5 and lipo are allowed in that class. If you are running a 10.5 lipo then I would run with mod. That should be plenty of power to compete. They are racing fri and Sunday. Turnout has been about 4 heats total for each. Usually a novice class, stock buggy, stock truck and mod buggy if I am not mistaken. I have not been there in about a month but that seemed to be what it has been like for the last 6 months or so?

Thanks for the reply Casper.. I'd run 2 wheel mod regardless.. I was more concerned with weather or not SoCal allowed LiPo's or not (being indoors and all)

What tires work there.. we run holeshots and 8175's out here...

They allow LIPO in mod for sure.. but I think they prefer a hard case... but don't quote me on that.

As for tires, you can always run Holeshots and 8175s. They work pretty good. Bomb 1 foams in the Holeshots. Also, the new JConcepts Groovy fronts in Green work great, that is what I run now. For rears, when the track is good, Square Fuzzies are extremely fast...

I have not heard of a restriction on lipo's. I think everyone would like to see a hard case although the plastic is going to do little to help if one of those things goes off.

Geez sounds like our club nights are a bit bigger than yours..we've been getting 140-160 entries on saturday nights...electric here has been going nuts since lipos and brushless

Is there anybody here that ran at RCHR in Costa Mesa, or The Race Place in Santa Fe Springs way back in the day?

I raced at RCHR many times and The Race Place a few times. Ron Williams ran a great show and Gary changed the track all the time. RCHR was the best indoor offroad track in So Cal.

Cool, I was just wondering if I knew anybody still racing from back in the old days. I ran both open and stock truck just about every weekend at RCHR.

We had maybe 60-70 last Friday night. We usually have some wheelers, but they get thrown in with 2wd. It would only take a few extra to have them split though.

Default On Sunday...

There were maybe 40-50 racers.
probable 9 or 10 ran MOD, which right now should be called "OPEN CLASS".
Who won that? AJ? He was looking real solid actually.

I wish SoCal raced on Saturday. I would expect larger turnouts.
Also the time to practice, break 'em, fix 'em, and race 'em.

Fridays with work, and Sundays opening at 11am to race at 1pm can be a little hurried.

I haven't been there in a couple of months. Boy was it nice to be back.

I also ran RCHR a couple times a week.
That is when they ran The Western Nationals and The Reedy Offroad Race.
The JRX2 just came out when I had started to race there, I had one.
I think I remember you.
Craig Hammon
P.S. Last Friday at So Cal was a blast
Good sportsman stock buggy race, had 9
Mod buggy had 2w and 4w mixed and some tight racin, they had 10 or even 11 signed up.
Sunday had a full heat of mod mixed too
