i wonder what will happen to this thread after everything is said and done....

well i have to say that it was fun.. i was able to drive to socl every day if i wanted and practice with my mini.. but now it looks like i will only be able to practice and race once a month at pegasus,,,, if a track comes up just as close as socal then that would be great..

but until then i have a bunch o f videos of socal to keep me busy..

as a last memory to socal.. why not post every video you can find of socal both offroad and onroad.. a way of keeping the memory alive..

You guys gotta make the trek to Pegasus. They run an awesome program there. We had 6 different classes last Saturday, plus free giveaways for everyone. With more racers attending, we'll surely have more classes available. The racers in the pits are friendly and helpful. The track is well groomed and watered every other race (or every 3 races).

You can't go wrong racing at Pegasus. Give it a try and you'll be hooked.

So whats the official reason?
Not enough business or rising costs of property? Both?
From what I understand, both. Sounds like the lease went up significantly, and there were fewer racers. Those two happen together, and you're out. Seems like they gave up too easily. What do tracks usually do to recruit new racers?

Socal is closing becuase the property owners want a dollar a square foot. That is almost triple what there paying now socal owners can afford it but they are not much into rc anymore. And they dont want to pay the price of the building.I know this becuase socal is my home i know all that goes on there. There might be another track in progress right now.But until then we racers have nothing.Soo make friday the last race day the best day you have ever had at socal becuase no track will ever be as unique as socal was.

rookie-- I agree so cal cannot be replaced and will be missed dearly but Pegasus is there to fill you need for speed. I am aware of other things in the works to bring electric racing back to the OC as well. Nothing as nice as So Cal has always been to all of us though! You can't beat indoor racing. Pegasus has a great track now though. Felles and Whisler are doing a great job maintaining the track for 10th scale racing.

Default SoCal... gone but not forgotten.

SoCal is closing because I don't buy anything any more. I was keeping them in business for 8 years, just ask Jim.

All kidding aside, I am sad to see SoCal close. We raced there for so many years. Cody was basically raised at the tables in the place. It meant allot to us, and it's tough to see it go. We watched and learned from The Great One, Brian Kinwald. We got to witness the battles between The Dirtinator and Pudge, and the passing of the torch, as Pudge went on to win multi world titles. Hopefully another indoor track will open.

So long SoCal, it was fun.
