It all comes down to setup (and driver skill)... ANY brand can be made equally competitive, but notice all the weight that was added to the ET410 conversion, I've seen a similar amount of weight that was added to a 4WD Slash to make it competitive, in fact that driver cleaned house on a 1/10 indoor clay track with his properly tuned Slash against a field of team drivers with TLR and TEKNO.
To me the most important factor is long term maintenance costs and that's where TEKNO comes out on top.
As far as motor selection goes, I prefer a 4S setup with a 3660-1800KV motor, note this is a 1/10 4WD SC motor and it yields incredible efficiency to where my motor temps are around 140°F after a 20 min main mixed in with nitro buggies, I was the only SCT in the class, I also did 2 pit stop and go's and it was a lot of fun!

when the DESC410RV2 was still around, that one chassis conversion they had so you could run a dual shorty setup or square pack setup was nice, planted the track and gave you like 9000mah+ to work with lol. Just got a bit touchy running lipos in parallel if you bumped something wrong on connection nice spark. But was a killer truck.

a hobbywing xr8 sct. If you're racing then you are normally limited to 2s, so a 4300kv motor.

Or get a tekin system with the pro4 4600kv, and watch it catch fire.

Id pick the lst 3.0 over the tekno as in 90% of the tracks you drive better check with the tracks to find how many cell you can use. 2 is max in many 1/10 sct.. I like the 3500kv ..
