Default Associated V1 V2 spring identification

How do you tell if a spring is V1 or V2? Is it painted vs the little piece of heat shrink? I keep getting conflicting information

V1's use heat shrink

V2s colors are painted on and the packaging lists length. Its that simple.

Yep, the painted on colors are what you want. The v1 with the shrink tube colors are still good for novice or just bashing.

V2’s also have noticeably fewer coils for a given length of spring.

V1's are linear springs. Used on dirt/clay. V2's are more progressive and are used on carpet/turf.

v1's are still the go-to on most dirt 2wd buggy setups. I don't think Rivkin uses them for bashing or novice classes.
