Why does this ESC have two plugs?

Why does this ESC have 2 plugs?

you mean 2 type rx plug . 1 is for rx and the other is for fan.. thought the fan plugged into the esc.

So do I need a 4ch receiver if I want to use the ESC fan and a motor fan on my eb410? I have the Spektrum DX5C radio. Is the ESC fan necessary if I run a 22T pinion?

dtr 06-18-2020 02:09 PM

You can power both fans from the esc so you only need a 2ch receiver. If you look closely at rhe second plug on the picture it has only two wires going in, it is there to power the motor fan from the esc.

You can get a y harness and plug both fans into one channel. I know you are not planning to race, but if you do you will need an open channel for the transponder so you can get your laps counted by the scoring software.

As for needing a fan, that will depend on many factors (timing, esc settings, how hard you drive, ambient temperature, and gearing). There should be gearing suggestions in the manual for the car or esc/motor. Running fans will let you run back to back batteries without having to wait for stuff to cool back down. You could also add an external bec to give you more flexibility to add fans. The battery and charger technology has come far enough along that you can charge a battery faster than you can run it down, so you can run nearly interrupted with 2 batteries if you run fans.

There is a gearing recommendation chart from castle that will give you a gearing range. You might have to do some math to figure out where to start, but that is all you need because once you run the car you can see if you need to change gearing. A few pinion gears a couple teeth apart gives you some range without spending an arm and a leg.

Not sure what you mean dtr... I plug the second plug straight into the ESC? But wont I need a 3ch radio since I will be running a motor fan on my EB410? The motor fan for the EB410 is not included with the kit.

Sorry, I remembered incorrectly that the fan is powered by the sidewinder esc. I checked my old equipment and saw that I was running the fan directly from the battery, but that is not really recommended; I second what Waitwhat wrote above and run a servo cable splitter or Y-harness like this one: https://www.amainhobbies.com/parkzon...pkz1063/p21260 if heat makes a motor fan necessary.

Should I buy this fan with this carbon diff brace: https://arndtcraft.com/collections/k...n-shroud-mount

Or the original one here:
With this fan?: https://www.amainhobbies.com/yeah-ra...0472bk/p529891

Clodbusterfan 06-18-2020 05:40 PM

dtr: The link for the y harness did not work. Can you send another link please?

waitwhat 06-18-2020 05:48 PM

Y harness.

The aluminum Yeah Racing fan is a good one. The aluminum case makes it last much longer than plastic fans.

Clodbusterfan 06-18-2020 07:08 PM

So I should go with this:

Do you guys really think I will need the esc fan? Some guys on facebooks Tekno group were saying not to use a y harness. Can't i just use this rx and plug all of them into it?:

With that motor you will need an esc fan, otherwise you will probably overheat the esc. But that motor is pretty much overkill for the EB410 and also hard to gear for, you'd be much better off with the 4600kv version that is faster and has lower torque.

Clodbusterfan 06-19-2020 08:12 AM

dtr: Why would a higher kv motor be better? Won't a higher kv run hotter than a lower kv motor?

Clodbusterfan 06-19-2020 08:14 AM

Also, should I use this fan mod:

https://arndtcraft.com/collections/k...n-shroud-mount

Or this one:

Obviously with a fan.
