Recommend me a monster truck / basher

Hey all -

Looking for a recommendation on something that's good for high-speed off-road bashing, "medium" jumping, etc.

Here's my ideal set of characteristics:
-- center diff
-- no more than 6-7 lbs all up incl battery (which is my definition of 10th scale)
-- good parts availability

I spent a lot of years on Traxxas, and while they get a lot of criticism on the forum they were great for my needs. However, once you go Tekno, it is hard to go back to RTR grade. I just end up with all my Tekno rigs being too heavy and too powerful for local use at parks. Being a few pounds lighter makes a huge difference in terms of how 'scary' the truck is (or isn't, more importantly).

Any suggestions on good candidates? I am thinking there just might not be anything that fits what I am looking for... might need to do a custom build of some sort.

Tekno MT410

I've been happy with my HPI Bullets for the past several years, but they do require a few key upgrades to make them completely trouble-free. They don't come with center diffs but they can be fitted with center diffs from the WR8.

Mine's a nitro, obviously, but it's available in an electric version too.

Based on your original post, the weight spec may be difficult to meet but perhaps the following conversion may be worth consideration.

Tekno SCT410.3 Mini-Truggy

The ProMT 4x4 by Proline Racing meets your weight and diff criteria. I have one and like it. Some hardcore bashers found it's weaknesses and didn't care for it but I think it's an extremely tough 3s monster truck.

As far as bashers, i really like the traxxas offerings. The rustler 4x4 is pretty good, but i prefer the e-revo. I know its a little bigger than you are looking for but its fast, and handles pretty well.

Traxxas are ok for bashing, racing not so great.

What a unique and thoughtful comment.

My Summit has broken 3-4 parts in 5 years. None of the parts cost more than 5 dollars to replace.

Id reccommend the rival mt10 from associated after having one.. on 3s its got some monster power! I got one just to bash around with during the covid stuff but i bash with it almost daily now because its so fun lol Wheely backflips on the spot

You want a smaller scale basher the et410 would be my choice.

smirkracing 06-27-2020 12:33 AM

Thanks for all the replies!

Just picked up an et410. Still getting used to it. Right now it is more or less stock but need to make the tweaks so it is a good backyard basher.

How is yours set up?

I would say Proline Pro MT 4x4 has center diff reasonably and can handle 4s
