Default Best Tamiya 4WD for Stock Racing

What is the best 4WD Tamiya going around for Stock Racing using 13.5T Motor or is there any others out there in the budget area. Any suggestions need to be available in Australia.

Iím just getting back into racing after about 25 years. Any help would be appreciated

There is an active group on Facebook ĎTRF Off roadí with lots of info/help there

tamiya arenít really in the off road scene anymore but their main race chassis were 511/503 and the 502 shaft drive car

The DB01 RR is a great chassis too

TRF went out of business, while there may still be some 4WD designs available today, they have not seen any updates in many years which would leave you at a significant disadvantage if you wanted to be competitive in the stock classes. I would visit your local club and see what the locals are running then pick a chassis that is one of the most popular in your area along with a recommended setup sheet for your track... this will save you from a lot of frustration, trust me I've been there... I have always enjoyed driving something different, and if that's what your goal is, then consider this:

I would not get a plastic chassis, Tamiya just isn't known for durability
Tamiya DF03 MS: Can it Compete Part 4, The Breaks | RC Soup

Things to look for when selecting a modern 4WD Buggy for stock racing:
  • 2mm aluminum chassis which allows flex = more grip
  • Floating servo to allow flex
  • 3 fluid filled gear diffs - the DF-03 comes with ball diffs
  • Carbon shock towers
  • wide selection of sway bars/springs/pistons
  • pill inserts on A-B-C-D aluminum blocks for increase tuning window
  • adjustable ackermann plate
Top kits with these specs to consider:
  • PR Racing 401R
  • Associated B74
  • XRay XB4'20
  • TEKNO EB410.2

I have a DF-03 with carbon fiber chassis and shock towers. But the rear gearbox still being a weak point. About 12 years ago, when I raced with this car I broke a couple of them. In fact was the only I broke.
