Backyard off-road track

I'm standing about two feet off the ground on a folding step stool. No timing yet but I've been looking at the Zeppin lap timer..

Hi guys.
long time away but keep my cars, have inicial hobao and after buy a Hotbodies d8 both fuel engines . Now i buy the kit to convert Hotbodies in electric buy a new controller , motor ( brushless kit ) and Battery . saw the track that i use to ride but not there anymore unfortunately , so i decide to build a track in the time i wait for the rc parts.
make a inicial track project but the space was not that wide and far, the track is for max 3 cars so i will put 2.5 meters in lane some parts a little more.

the pic is in the left side of the project

so today was 1 day i mark the area and saw what is possible to do. i will take the herbs and after that smooth the area.
what do you think about the project ?

Ran a test session today for the RC10T2 // Maclan-Pico 17.5. All I can say about that is, "Houston. We have a runner".
Dragged out the pop-up after the test session and set it over the driver stand. Poof. Instant driver's lounge. Good place to hang out now with temps in the mid-80s and UV in the 'Very High' range. Thinking now it is a "new" and permanent addition to the track inventory. Sitting there in the shade, did some track planning on how the track will look for the upcoming April Special Test Event.
Cheers. 'AC'

I like your banner! How did you make that?
#714

Hey ByRC. How goes it on the rallye track? [ vistaprint.com ] does my banners. Have two now and will be looking to get one with a 'crowd in the cheap seats' image on it. ~$20.00 each + shipping for the two I have. Cheers. 'AC'

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the lap counting software and set up.

Lap counting system I picked out is Trackmate. It was between them and ILap when I was making my choice. Trackmate costs a few bucks less and their receivers are also cheaper. Trackmate also sells a full kit and all the pieces individually. ILap only sells the pieces individually. This is the reason I picked Trackmate. AMB/MyLap was not in the consideration due to cost, but looking at how much I have spent it honestly should have been.
I always planned to use a different scoring software package other than what came with the system. I wanted to use one that could have the race results streamed live online. the options for this are LiveRC/LiveTime and RCScoringPro. LiveRC is obviously a much more used platform and I really do like the layout of their site. BUT LiveRC's Driver section has been "coming soon" for years. I want people to not only be able to see the live results but have the ability to go back and see their times from every race so they can keep up with their own improvements over time. Sadly this is still not possible with LiveRC. Now RCScoringPro you can look back at your driver record as far back as you want. Every race, every lap. Their site looks a bit dated but the functionality that I want is there.Video overlay on LiveRC also looks very nice which I like. RCScoringPro does not look as nice but I have not gotten into it enough to see if it is possible to change it up any. I will look into this in the future. Both are close in pricing but RCSP is slightly cheaper iirc.
Now here is something to note. Both LiveRC and RCSP can use the 3 big lap counters, AMB/Mylap, Trackmate, and ILap. But the way that the new Trackmate system talks to the PC has changed. This change will not work with any other software other than the Trackmate software. So if you buy a new Trackmate system it will doubtfully work with any other software package like LiveRC or RCSP. I lucked out and bought my Trackmate system a couple years ago before these changes took place. So if I bought a system today Trackmate would not be my choice knowing the changes that they have made.
For the laptop I decided to go overkill and get one that would not have any issues keeping up with the lap counting software and the live streaming of data and video. Here is what I had built.

•No Additional Office Software
•Windows 10 Home 64 ADV
•HP Wide Vision HD Camera with integrated dual array digital microphone fTDB fThin
•17.3" diagonal FHD 144 Hz IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)

•Intel® Core™ i7-10750H (2.6 GHz, up to 5 GHz, 12 MB L3 cache, 6 cores) + NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti (6 GB)
Install of RCSP went very easy and quick. I fooled around with it a little yesterday after I installed it but not a whole lot. It seems like a very complex program but it also seems fairly strait forward at the same time. Since I am still a ways off from getting the track up and running I have plenty of time to learn it.
That's about all I got for ya at this time. Also I have not messed with the Trackmate software. I did install it, but didn't bother to open it since I will be using RCSP in its place.

Thanks for the info!
I made an on board camera mounting system using magnets. I glued two rectangle magnets to the bottom of a Gopro mount and I glued two more to a piece of denim. They held on great and didn't move even when I crashed. The weight of the Gopro was definitely a burden for my 1/14 scale cars and it made them very top heavy but overall I think it works good. This video shows how fast our cars are running. It looks like the video is sped up but it isn't.

That is a really great Go-Pro session, Backyard RC. Your rallye track rocks (pun intended...
...) This latest track design really shows off the capabilities of the RC rallye car.
I've considered the possibility of using a Go-Pro on the grass track. What I think I'd really like to do is have a local RC drone pilot capture a full track view event from overhead. My oval is small, so think it is doable from a low enough altitude not to lose sight of the car in ground clutter.
Thanks again for producing and posting up the rallye vid. Good stuff. Cheers. 'AC'

Thanks! I think on your track you could use a camera on a long stick and stand in the infield area. Then someone could pirouette as the cars go around and always have them in the shot. A low flying drone would work great too.
