Default ebuggy electronics

Need to know input on which esc, motor . lipo is decent and competitive for the ebuggy.

Don't have to be the top of the line stuff since I will be trying out this class.

I heard 1900KV is more than enough for power...and esc is ran with default settings (is that true?)

I don't run anything but Tekin. I spent a season running 1900kv and felt slightly underpowered on larger tracks, especially with a long double. I run a 2050kv and couldn't be happier. If you want to be slightly more economical - go with a Hobbywing. I know a lot of guys that run them and love the brand. For me - I like the smoothness of a Tekin set up and the adjustability you're afforded.

Hobbywing is all I race with. I suggest you buy a Hobbywing xr8sct esc and Hobbywing Xerun 1900kv motor from Dialed Hobbies. Pretty sure they now carry the awesome and pretty inexpensive wifi express module for programming. You can get great 4s lipos from dialed hobbies or from pulse battery. The Hobbywing WiFi express module makes programming extremely easy and is well worth the 40 bucks or so.

I ran a Tekin G1 1700kv with a touch of timing boost (4 pole motors can’t take much) and never wanted for more power. I could run 15 minute mains on 4s/4500mah. I’m told the tekin 1700 was a little under rated.

My opinion on lipos is don’t overspend. Especially if your starting off. If you get really serious and competitive, than I suppose it may be worth it.

+1 for a HobbyWing set up.

I currently run an XR8 Plus and 1900 on my eTruggy.

When I had an eBuggy, I was running the SCT PRO and a 1900 as well.

Hobbywing hands down! So easy, reliable, and tunable. Not to mention pricing is super reasonable. For Lipo, Start with a Zeee Battery off Amazon. They have a nice hardcase 4S with Deans already installed.

For racing applications I wouldn't go bellow Hobbywing. In my 1:8 ebuggy I'm currently running XR8 SCT Pro + 1900kV sensored motor + 40mm fan and am very satisfied with performance and reliability.
Even on large/fast tracks there is more than enough power/speed and the motor/esc combo is always luke-warm).
For Lipo's any 4S hardcase >5000mAh is OK. Honestly for practice/qualify/smaller tracks I use Hobbyking 4S 5000mAh 20C hardcase bargain cheap Lipo's and don't feel any significant difference to my other >70C packs!

I've tried many other cheaper combos, the only cheaper combo that had good performance but only acceptable reliability (failed fans & seized motor bearings after 1 season) was SkyRC Toro 150A ESC + their Toro 1900kV sensored motor.
I tried also Teking combo, but fund no mentionable performance/reliability advantage over Hobbywing.

Tekin and HW are both fine, if you already run HW then stay that course.

I’ve just started this 1/8 buggy racing myself. Practice and some unofficial races so I’m a total novice with some bare bones experience. I’ve tried both Tekin and HW xr8 1900kv options. The hobbywing fan failed on the first night (took some big hits). The Tekin seems to be smoother and the motors are rebuildable not sure if the HW is rebuildable or not. My buddy put a HW2200kv max8 combo in his buggy and it’s a little too much.. throttle is jumpy and control is easily lost. 1900 with a 16 tooth pinion seems to work for me at my track. HW or Tekin can’t go wrong with either..

HW and Tekin are the only ones worth running. Also, ditch the Deans connectors. They are prone to failure. Get XT60 or XT90 connectors.

is there a significant difference between a 5000mah 50c and a 5000mah 100c in a 4s lipo?
