Default Team Associated RC8.2e .. wont go further than 30ft without unbinding

I just picked up a nice 1/8 Associated RC8.2e RTR on Ebay.

I bought a new 4S lipo and put fresh batteries in the TX. I manually rebound the RX/TX and took it outside for a test drive.

The problem i have is that it wont go further than 30-40 feet without unbinding from the TX.

What could the issue be?

Thanks in advance

Keeping info in one spot, for a specific platform, makes it easier for other to find info... Team Associated RC8.2e Thread
Radio and Electronics section of the forums for when you got issues with transmitter, receiver, motor, servo, speed control, etc., etc.

Anyway, I'm guessing you bought your buggy used, and I don't know the specifics of the sale. If you don't have a known good receiver to try with your transmitter, I think I would be trying to get some money back if seller said everything worked fine. If we are talking about the XP radio system that came with the 8.2e RTR, then I would not expect any more than $15 for a refund. In the meantime, I'd be looking for a new radio system.

Is the antenna cut or ripped? Had way too many receivers go down the crapper from that. Make sure the antenna is intact.
