Default Willspeed RF2 B6.2 Conversion kit build

Hi Guys,

I am running for Willspeed for 2019/20 season and wanted to post up a build thread to showcase this amazing conversion kit and share the development and set ups as the season progresses

So who are Willspeed??

Will set up the UK based company in Oct 18 , Will used to work with Team Xtreme/Vega back in the day where he learnt his CAD/Machining skills and has gone on his own and created the Willspeed brand and the new 5 gear laydown conversion kits

At present there are 3 x conversion kits on the market, Xray XB2, Xray XT2 and the soon to be released Associated B6.1

The car I am building is a pre-production car for testing purposes and if all goes well it will be out in a few weeks but check in on the Willspeed facebook pages for the latest updates/news

I popped into Willspeed HQ last night to pick up my pre production B6.1 conversion kit fresh out of the milling machine

At present there are 6 x pre production kits going out to drivers of all ability’s for testing and if all is good production will be going ahead very soon!

So here is the kit!

In the kit you get everything you need to covert your xb2/xt2/b6.1 over to a willspeed RF2

Chassis/gearbox/rear tower/battery hold down/machined idler gears/bearings/hardware/stickers/body shell

This kit is not anodized and has the raw finish but you can see the finished article in the pics above

Rear shock tower preparation, all stock B6.1 parts

as per the photo you just need to cut out the wing angle spacers and give them a quick sand and bolt it all up!

Next up is to mount the servo, a full size servo can fit in the car but to give room for the esc (I am using HW V3.1) you need to space the servo forward, I used some spacers from my B4 box but you can use the following AE part numbers: (91728/7336/89023)

As per the picture of Will’s Xb2 car it’s a nicer install with a low profile servo and think I’ll go this route down the line

rear D block is on, you need a m3 x 12 c/s and 2 x low profile nylon nuts to secure this down

The lovely gearbox!

The kit comes with the machined delrin idler gears

Rebuilt the diff and I’m running 4 gears in it and 5k oil (carpet racing)

Just need to fit up the slipper clutch next
