I doubt there is a single best E buggy. My bet would be on Mugen and HB Racing.

when you ask the best in this hobby its based on opinion, IMO yes this is the best iv drove this year. Most expensive I doubt it probably xray for most coin to purchase. considering the results from Serpent at Wicked Weekend and other local racers success in my region and the personal experience I have with it. I would easily vote it the best. In the hobby tho ANY car can be the best with a good driver behind it. They are all competitive and there is no 1 brand that reigns all podiums.

I know you used to worry about center diffs being "out in the open", and pebbles. Did something change?
In general, any 1/8 buggy kit would probably suit your needs. Everyone can, and will have a positive/negative thought on every platform out there. Just take a look at what buggies win races. That's why manufactures have team drivers...winning races equals selling their product. Simple as that.
You, HardBash, mention going to a track. If that track has an on-site hobby shop, then I'd look at what is carried by that shop. I know that would persuade me the most in choosing a buggy.
I personally wait (patiently) for Tekno's new EB to be unveiled.

If extra long wheelbase is what u're looking for, get the tekno eb48.4 and get the chassis plate of et48.3 and boom u got a super long buggy that need some custom bodyshell.
And no, u cannot enter any races as the requirement for wheelbase would be 310-330mm for any 1/8 buggy

But for realistic suggestion, i would pick a brand that i can easily get my spareparts. One thing for sure, tekno is really durable. I cannot imagine that i need to worry the arm snap due to impact.

This will hard to control for racing. It's fun for bashing, but not for racing.
And most races won't allow anything bigger than 4s lipo's. I wouldn't go any higher than 2150kv for the motor if you need a lot speed. I'm using a Tekin 1900kv motor on 4s HV lipo's and That's plenty fast with the timing at 0. On some tracks I turn down the EPA to 90% because I have too much speed.
