Something to keep in mind is when it measured at that temp versus what it was seeing for temp during the actual run.

My 17.5 was getting at 150F after a 3 minute run with very low gearing (72/27), at the original 50° on the can, I run blinky offroad. I noticed it came with no shaft play at all, so I reached out to trinity tech support and they suggested to take the motor apart and gently tap the shims on a flat surface, as they can be a little curved after the stamping process. I did that but still had very little play, so I took one of the thinner shims out. The temperatures improved by quite a lot, and I also settled around 5A with no load (42° on the can). The tech support also said the team drivers are shooting for 8.6A. Very good customer support by the way

We run 24/81, 51 deg can timing in our Tekno EB410 wheelers they run around 130 with the top fan on them, you guys have to gear down, also run 24/72 in our TLR 22 5.0's and they come off at 100F with a fan on them.

I'm sure there's a way, but I can't find how to mesh any molded pinion smaller than a 26 with a 72 spur

That's not really the question. Slashripper is saying he can run a gear (24/72) that m3rcfh can't make to work.

That's because they are all using different vehicles.

Dremel out the motor mount slots, so you can fit.

I figured he responded because the post referring using that gear on 22 5.0's, he had the same car.
