I need help with gearing on a 8ight-t electric conversion. Running 16/45. Was bought from a racer and said it was setup for torque, I want to bash with it, and have more top end, can anyone help with where i should start with gearing?

Is this an rtr, 2, 3, or 4.0?

If you have a E version chassis, no spur opening on the chassis you are limited to a 46t spur losa3551. I have a 8ight E 4.0 buggy, and can use a 46t spur barely, if I remove the degree plate I can run up to a 50t spur non-clutch it seems though only tried a 48t, 46t clutched again just barely.

Bonus!! You can use just about any spur! Nice..
For tops, use a 43t spur and 16t pinion. Watch temps.

ok I will have to order one. What kind of speeds do you think I could achieve with this setup? I want to bash and do short speed runs every now and then. I have a 6700mah 4s battery. Also, I noticed to change the spur, seems like I have to take apart the center diff, and I've never done that before, would it be easier to change the pinion, or spur change is best?

Well since you already got a 16t going larger might put too much on the motor. If you feel that it’s not what you want to try yet watch temps and if a larger pinion is available, however a larger pinion is more impactful than a smaller spur. This in point at some time soon you will have to at least change the oil in the center diff. Some like to wash all the diff part down with cleaner, wd 40 or clean with light weight spray silicone. The steel that wears is not hard on itself, it’s hard on the o rings and inner shims

ok, thank you for the help, I'm going to order a 43 tooth spur when I get off.
