Durable MOD1 pinions for low tooth count (9T, 10T)

I've read past threads but nothing recent, are there any standout brands in terms of lifespan for 9T / 10T pinions?

Are there durability concerns in general with the 9T option?
I was planning on sticking with 10T just to be safe.

The application is 5S 1/8 Truggy on 2250kV, with driveline gearing higher than standard (~buggy rather than truggy).
I'd have picked a lower kV motor but my gear of choice (HW Xerun) only has a 2250 option in truggy size.
I'd prefer not to change any of these aspects (including the spur) for now, will check temps with 10T first.

Appreciate thoughts from people running 5S/6S on 1/8 Truggy ideally.
Thanks

Did you ever find one? I’m looking for one as well.

I think at 9T count for a 5mm bore, you are running not enough material strength to ensure longevity. Redcat racing has one RER08595

have you tried looking on eBay?

I use pinions from Dialed Hobbies, but I do have a 9t from a redcat truck I had a long while back, before I started racing. Not sure if Dialed carries a 9t.

Any of the steel pinions should serve you fine. If concerned Tekno and Robinson make hardened/extra hard steel ones as well.

Aw man! I searched Mod1 pinion 9t and it included 32 pitch and I wasn't paying too close of attention. My bad.

Assuming you can find one, you will see a lot of wear on a 9T pinion simply because each tooth is hitting the spur gear lots more (maybe twice as much) as in a typical setup.

It's always fun to watch people struggle when they choose to make choices far away from the mainstream setups (which are main stream because that's what most people have found to work well) and refuse to take advice on how they could eliminate their problems.

Tooth plunge and undercutting/interference becomes a huge issue when you get down to 10 or fewer teeth. The pinion will basically grenade itself or the spur very quickly and is whey they typically aren't offered under 10T.

I imagine one runs into bigger problems when running a pinion with 0 teeth... ;)

Sorry...

I ended up getting the Losi 10T, PN: LOSA3570
Seems well made, haven't had time to try it yet but I think it'll work fine.

As per above replies and my original suspicion, I think 9T is pushing it for wear life and material around a 5mm bore, as 1/8 IC Fan points out.

Robinson Racing makes durable pinions

Sorry...

Some days I think I have more teeth in my head than brain cells.
