What Weight Shock Oil for 1:10 Desert Buggy?
 

Hi, guys.
What shock oil weight would you recommend for a stock 1:10 desert buggy?
Mine is the Thunder Tiger Jackal, but I assume(!) you'd load its shocks with the same kind of oil you'd use in Yeti, Nomad, Rock Rey, Twin Hammers, etc.

30-35 should be fine

It will vary on each platform. Springs, pistons, and shock angles will effect what oil weight you will need/want. If you are not happy with the stock performance of the damping, then adjust the shock oil weight to your liking. What, no reference in manual to what weight of oil is used? Then (like mentioned above) 35wt would be a good starting point. Just by looking at the chassis layout, and no personal hands on use of the Jackal, I'd probably use a thicker oil in the front shocks. Something like 40wt in the front and 30wt/35wt in the rear if the shocks use the same pistons front and rear. Use one brand of shock oil, and stick with that brand. Brand A's 35wt oil may be the same as Brand B's 40, or 30wt oil.

Experiment with oil weights, and have fun.

If your just dubbin around... bashin.....you dont need to be that technical.......

The Jackal is setup more like a forward weight bias rock racer. More than likely you'll need a thicker oil in the front. Everything is dependent on what, where, and how you are using the Jackal.

As in 30 in the back and 35 in the front or vice versa or either 30 or 35 for both?
Not doing anything too extreme. No serious bashing or jumping off high ramps. No crawling either. Just normal runs for the most part.

It's not that I'm displeased with the stock performance. It's just that when the time comes to renew the oil in the shock, I'd like to know what with.
Just looked again and couldn't find it.
