Has anybody put a center diff in their B74 yet? (Part #: 92144) I am in the middle of my build and decided to check Dustin Evans' indoor clay setup, and he is running a center diff. Dumb question, but other than oil, do I need anything other parts to run the center gear diff? I run only indoor clay.
Thanks
Thanks

I promise I am going to try to keep my dumb questions to a minimum.. I am off to a bad start. My previous wheelers have all been Tamiya TRF cars which are belt drive. If you ever have a question about belt drives, I am your man
Anyway, do you guys add any extra shims to the differentials/gearboxes outside of what is in the manual and provided in the kits? I have mine built per the manual including the updated extra directions in the kit which put a (needed) shim on the outside pinion/CVA cup. I realize they are metal gears which I am not used to, they spin free, but there is just more "feel" to the gears than I would like, and if you rotate them while spinning by hand, you can feel the gears a lot more with a little gravity on it's side. I am likely over-thinking it, and will just run it. I just would like them to be as smooth and quiet as possible, I am just trying to see if you guys mess with this at all.
Thanks!

I built mine per the kit shim wise and it is More quiet than some 2wds. Also earlier in this thread someone mentioned they didn't feel they needed to adjust the shimming from a kit and they sound more experienced than I. Run the kit.

Made a cool bracket today for the motor. Real simple. Mounts to the center diff carrier. But...I still can't post pictures do to post count being to low? How many darn post do I have to make to attach pictures.

Still pretty new to 1/10th scale racing but on my 5ive-b build i had more “feel” in the front diff. After shimming and trying a bunch of different ways i ended up running it with the kit directions. After a 20 min practice the gears wore to each other and it’s butter smooth now.
Im missing the BHCS 2.5x6 for the rear diff. Butbfrom looking at petit rc and Evans carpet car pics he’s not running that screw. Weird.
Also in my sway bar hardware kit was a set screw that was almost mistaken for a piece of flash plastic. It musta made its way into the bag somehow. It’s like 0.2mm in diameter

I hope this company makes a mount like this fan duct.W probably work better than the fan mount I made. I'll email them. I already measured the b64 to compare. The hole spacing is not the same.
Also I answered my question. 10 post, then you can upload pictures.

That is about what I am running for a Fan Mount. Then need a hoop to run the power wires through, and perfect. Replace the entire top plate with it, 1 piece.

My kit had both screws for the front and rear diff. The front holds that little bitty piece of the body on to the diff cover, The same place you mount the front wing. The rear just has the screw. Does that screw hole actually go all the way through into the diff housing? If so you should probably put a set screw in there to seal it up.
I have some long 2.5 BHCS I’m going to cut to size and install. Not sure if they hold cases together or just plug a hole but i figure I better put something there

Just checked that spot on the car and the hole does not go all the way through so it's fine to not run a screw.

Hi from the UK, just finishing up building the B74, think I must have had a Friday afternoon packed special as most things were in wrong bags, and mine had bright yellow add on instructions sheet hahahaha
its all gone together very well, I do however have 1 gearbox slightly noiser than the other
I was slowly turning spur gear and can feel a very slight tight spot, so removed front diff, and the tight spot remained, replaced it and removed rear, its gone, so I know its rear gearbox
I have done 1 shim a side, and 2 shims same sides
all I can think of now is to strip the diff itself and rotate the crowngear, maybe something is running out in that?
built it pretty much kit to start with, except the spacers on steering, dang who wants that much bumpsteer LOL
