Default RC10 B4.1 questions

I was reading the manual and it states for a brushless 17.5 motor i need to run a 33 pinion and 75 spur....
I have a 81 spur, will using a 27 pinion cause any problems??? (add up the total gear teeth is 108...)
Is there a better size pinion to use?

also I am using a hobbywing esc (Xerun XR10 justock )with a fan on it --- its too tall for the body to fit, can I remove the fan? does it really need the fan?

a 35 tooth will be the same. Its not total teeth but spur/pinion; 75/33=2.272727... so 81/2.2727=35.6. I don't use that esc so I have no comment on its cooling ability. I think I ran 72/30 on my b4.1 but its been a while.

Couple of ways to get the same gear ratio using bigger/smaller pinion, and spur gear combinations. I used to run 69/29 on my B4. Sometimes it's beneficial to get the motor as close to the gearbox as possible to reduce some of the pendulum effect of the motor hanging off the back end of the chassis. But, there is only so much you can do with a rear mounted motor setup, and needing a specific gear ratio to get the speed you're after. I had to remove the fan on (HW) ESC as well. This was to get body to set level. I never ran into a speed control heat issue running a 17.5T motor on a hot summer day. Also, this was with very little timing.
