Default Kyosho Rage 2.0

I'm not sure why, but I took the plunge and ordered the new Kyosho Rage 2.0 this morning. Over the last week or so, I kept trying to talk myself out of it. I don't find them to be visually appealing, nor am I excited about the prospect of brushed power. I see a lot of plas-tastic things on the chassis, which common sense would dictate that I should stay away from it. However, for an unknown reason, I ordered the ready set and am waiting on delivery.

You Tube doesn't yield much in the way of information. I see an unboxing video and a couple more that have horrendous slow motion sequences that are clearly meant to up the fun factor. So we shall see. Maybe with a solid brushless system and some upgrades, this could be fun.

Speaking of upgrades, there are none. I realize that this new truck, or whatever you want to call it, is brand new. We can only hope that upgrades and option parts will follow in the near future. Kyosho as a company is struggling, and my past experiences with them have been disappointing. So, I can only hope that they offer something to keep me interested.

Hopefully some of you pull the trigger and jump on board and we can see what comes of it. I hope it turns out to be a durable, tough truck that will make me grin. At $200, I hope that I can get my money's worth out of it.

I will definitely keep you updated and give my thoughts. It was one of those things I wanted, mainly because it's not something "serious". Just a good (hopefully!) truck to blast around and have some fun. I take racing pretty serious, along with my crawlers, so I definitely needed something that is fun and allows me to unwind and enjoy.

I had a chance to run the Rage 2.0 today. I decided to call a buddy of mine who had recently purchased a brushed Traxxas Rustler 4x4 to see if he was interested in some light bashing. He was all onboard so we hit a local park for some fun. Both trucks were brand new out of the box, and completely stock.

Both trucks ran on 2S and did a great job. We didn't experience any parts failures or carnage. The Kyosho is a bit faster than the Traxxas, despite the Kyosho having a 14T motor compared to the 12T Titan.

I will post up some more photos, videos and thoughts when I have the time. I just wanted to throw a few quick pics up before I'm off to bed.

The stock tires are terrible, they don't have foam in them. Even on brushed power, they balloon like crazy.

I swapped them out with some cheap Amazon wheels that are much firmer, have foams and are slightly larger. The firm tires will be of value when I stick my brushless system in this weekend.

nice! Is that a 4-pole motor? I always wondered if that ESC could handle a 4pole.
