Interesting shocks Dakotah is running on his car.

Very similar in design to the Schumacher shocks, but they are clearly not the same body design, and these are clearly anodized in the "TLR" color. They are also not the AVID 13mm shocks, because there is no hex at the bottom of the body. Possibly new TLR factory 13mm shocks???
Also notice that the Cartridge nut on the bottom of the shock seems wider as well. Possibly a larger X-Ring setup? Or a different cartridge stack?
Also note the rear shocks are upside down. Everyone wants to be a Hall Brother.

So theoretically they could just bore the 12mm shocks out a bit more, and they could be 13mm shocks very easily.
However, what makes me think these are prototype 13mm TLR shocks, aside from the Schumacher springs and cups, is because it doesnt have the 12mm hex at the bottom of the shock body either, as the additional 1mm internal bore diameter would not allow for it otherwise. So use the same TLR 12mm shock blank. Dont machine in the bottom hex, bore internally to 13mm, anodize in the TLR color...boom, 13mm shock. Done. 100% backwards compatible with your current springs, and everything.
The only thing that is still catching me out, is that cartridge cap, that looks larger, and different.
Anyway, i think its fascinating, i love speculating, trying to get in the mind of their engineers, and i love seeing what they do to keep the old girl competitive, other than have Dakotah Phend drive it, LOL.

New shocks - first hints of a possible 6.0 update. How exciting!

Love the look of the tlr shocks. sooo clean and look beefy

Phend not attending the world warm up race... maybe TLR needs to test 22x-2 in private.

There were hardly any TLR's at all, in any class. Also very strange that Phend wasnt there.
Tran was there to lend a hand to the couple TLR guys that were there, like Brennan. But was mostly there as a Horizon ambassador taking social media shots for Pro-Line sponsored drivers that made the podium.
It was...odd.
Made even more awkward that most all of the Pro-Line drivers placing, were driving AE's. :|

Someone posted this in the 22t 4.0 thread but since it's for the 5.0 I thought it should be in here as well: https://www.bigsquidrc.com/tlr-annou...or-the-22-5-0/
What's interesting is if they're releasing optional 5.0 parts now, that makes me think 1) a new car isn't coming as soon as we thought, or 2) these are for a new 6.0 car but there will be enough compatibility between the two cars that these can be released a 5.0 option. I'll have to dig through the FB groups and see if there's any more news/rumors posted there.

The TLR press release discusses how the +4mm chassis is best for clay and the +7mm us best for carpet/turf. Can someone explain why the chassis length depends on the surface? I would have thought the length would be more effected by the size of the track and possibly tightenss of the turns. (IE. large high-speed track would be more stable with long chassis, while a small track with tight low-speed turns would benefit from a shorter chassis)
