Default ESC info for new to hobby

I have come back after 20 years. Have a mid 80's rc10 buggy with original Associated off-road stock motor (stock#6500)
What moderate priced esc should I use. How about traxxe XL-1 or Duratrax Intellispeed autosport?
Also need opinion on purchase of associated RC10B4?

Thanks---Feels good to be back-----Gar4

the b4 is a great car. if you want to get an esc and not have to upgrade until they come out with a new one get the QC3 or the GTX. if your just looking at stock racing get the XRS or the IPC 7.1

I would definately not recommend the Traxxas ESC at all, in fact stay away from it at all costs, it is one of the worst avaliable. Basically just go with any Novak or LRP ESC, pretty much every speedo those 2 companies offer are good. Just remember that if you buy a good one now, you won't have to buy again later on. Something like the LRP AI bullet reverse would be a great basher speedo, or a Novak GTB 5.5 brushless system. The B4 is an awsome buggy, its dialed right out of the box, super fast and amazingly easy to work on. If your looking for a kit for racing go with the factory team, if high level competition isn't on your mind then go with the Team kit, or even the RTR buggy is good as well.
