Default Help

Iíve been working on this fleet of short course trucks for the grandkids to race.... 3 of 7 are brushless, no problems with the brushless. I need setup advice on the brushed ones, as Iím burning up motors, Iím using the stock spurs and was hoping some of you long time addicts would be able to advise me as to what will work. Weíre using 4000 lipos. Iím hoping to be able to have these kids run the brushless units without overheating them. Iíll eventually switch all to Lipo but itís a big chunk to do them all, so Iím trying to keep the whole thing going til then. I really like the stock ae rtr brushless setup, it seems bulletproof.

When I start burning out motors, I drop the pinion 2 teeth, or raise the spur 4-6 teeth.

You could try to water break-in the brushed motors (when new) to help extend its lifespan and also slightly increase performance.

The brushed motors are used, would a water break in procedure benefit them? I've dropped my pinions as low as the lhs had but I guess I'll grab a few extra spurs too.

I don't think breaking-in a used brushed motor would be of any benefit as the brushes would already be seated and worn in. Works best for new motors.

Switch to a closed enbell motor like the Traxxas 12T or the ECX 20T I like the Traxxas best.
They are cheap and durable

Or hereís another issue. Your drivetrain is not spinning freely. Take the motor of the spur. If it doesnít spin for 2-3 seconds, then you have some bad bearings.

4000 mah lipo tells nothing How many cells? 2 or 3 if your running 3 cells thats why your burning the brushed. and a sealed can motor adds no longer run time.. doing a correct break in with a D cell battery and using green anti freeze is best not water.. the dry motor and lube bearing or bushing in the motors end.. check temps
