Default Hobbywing QuicRun QR10BL120 for stock racing?

I’m sure it’s been asked a lot but is the Hobbywing QuicRun QR10BL120 esc suitable for stock class racing I just recently bought a 17.5 motor and plan on putting it in my b6d.

It will work, but I would just buy a hobbywing justock for 50 bucks. It’s made specifically for stock racing and is rock solid

Yeah, since stock drivers generally want minimum weight, the XR10 Justock is 40g lighter than the 10BL120, and you don't need 120A with a 17.5t motor.

You can set the timing to 0, but I don't think there is a blinky light, so that may cause problems if your club cares.

I totally agree with everyone else as the hobbywing juststock is great. If you want to splurge a little the XR10 pro stock v4 is 119.99 (amain pricing) and even smaller and lighter being roughly 20-30 grams lighter (according to amain).

That was my first question, not sure it's on the ROAR approved list and that could be a problem if you club ever checks:
ROAR Racing

Our club will spec every car before the mains.

I have the Hobbywing V2.1 120a, which is basically the QuicRun. I agree with getting the Justock for spec racing. I personally own 3 and none of them have ever failed on me.

Yes it's just the same as with any other sensored brushless ESC

Just make sure you are not adding lots of static timing in the ESC settings and with the motor endbell at the same time.

I run my quicrun 120 at zero timing.

If you're going to buy an ESC, I'd recommend the stock spec over the juststock. It's $50 more, but it is more versatile, lighter, smaller and underrated.

I would check with the RD to make sure he's okay with using this ESC for stock racing, maybe he'll ask to see your programming card settings to verify that the ESC timing is set to 0° ... this ESC doesn't have "blinky mode" which is used to easily spec cars for stock racing so don't be surprised if your club doesn't allow the ESC if they don't want to deal with the hassle of verifying your ESC before every race.

As far as the motor's end bell timing goes, that's fair game and can be adjusted to suit your needs for a given track layout.
