Soften rc tires, what do you use
#1

I am trying to soften some slash tires
I used PB Blaster and they actually got hard I use to use it all the time.
I know there are a lot of threads about this but I thought we would see if theres any thing better out now

Automotive belt dressing. Spray on the tires lightly but in ziploc to dry. Repeat till they are as soft as you want.

That is the first I have heard about PB making a tire hard. To soften a new tire I will apply PB with a tooth brush making sure the tire is completely coated and it is worked into the rubber. Seal them up in a ziplock bag and set them in a window seal in the sun light all day and they come out nice and soft every time. I have also "burned" them in with a drill and a rag, but to do this you need a hex adaptor for a drill. You mount the tire to the adaptor and put it in on a drill spay the PB on a towel set it on a counter hold the towel and run the tire on the rag tell it starts to smoke. Like a burn out on a drag strip. This method is dangerous and precautions need to be taken. It is a lot easier to let the sun do the work.

I use Paragon Ground Effects on Slash tire when new. I apply it heavy and let them sit in a plastic bag for 3-4 days to soften, after that I just use Liquid Wrench in the yellow can on race days.

Instead of WD40, we've found Liquid Wrench Lubricant spray to work better at our club, we spray it on our Spec Slash tires about 30 min before each race and it typically dries in about that same time. If you want it to dry quicker, then we'll spray the mixture into an empty shock oil bottle with about a 50/50 mix with non-chlorine brake cleaner, then place some drops on a toothbrush and work it into the treads about 5-10 min before each run.
If you want to get real fancy (or too lazy to mix your own concoction), there are tons of tire sauce brands to choose, my personal favorite is Sticky Kicks - Pink or Yellow:
Sticky Kicks RC Purchase Page | R/C Tire Sauce For Maximum Traction
Keep in mind that Sticky Kicks provides the best traction, but at the expense of wearing the tires a little more quickly than using Liquid Wrench + Brake Cleaner.

PB blaster, xylene, atf. Mix the atf and pb at 50/50 ratio. Then mix that solution with xylene 50/50. Works great. Takes about 5-10 min to dry/soak in. Use on wet clay that is otherwise slippery. Also I use Rex/mecron 3 atf fluid. The ford only stuff will slow ya down! Hahahaha kidding about the ford stuff.

Been using this solution way before FDJ, sticky kicks, cheater racing, etc... still works better than all the store brands. I have several other combinations from kart racing that my team and I have modified the mixtures to work on rc tires. Hope it helps you guys soften tires. Jus be careful as this is an extreme softening agent. Really easy to soften to far. To preserve your foams, I recommend you sauce the tires inside and out before mounting. Then clean with xylene or alcohol, even acrysol to dry the tires and prep for flying. Then glue and lightly sauce.

Liquid Wrench and a zip lock bag should do the trick.

so anyone tried theses methods on old tires I have boxes of old vintage rims and tires and some are starting to get pretty stiff
most are for cars that rim/tire combos are just not obtainable any more , so when it comes time to replace what's on some of my vintage rigs would be nice to make sure that they don't split right away
