Default How come Losi or Associated will not build a 1/8 buggy

I used to be a hardcore Team Associated guy but I started racing 1/8 scale and have to buy another brand (OFNA). Just wondering if they have ever considered it.
I would like to buy American whenever possible but thats hard to do in the world of injection molded plastic.

I think it is because the popularity around 1/8 nitro is relatively new and associated isn't known for being able to react quickly to the market but i am not sure. Look how long the RC10GT has been around, maybe they just don't like nitro.

Default SPORTWERKS

Someone at my lhs said Sportwerks and Losi are the same, so they would have one in the Mayhem.
I know the engines are the same, diff cases, etc.....

Sportwerks and Losi are both distributed by Horizon Hobby but are not the same company. There has been rumors floating around about Losi releasing a 1/8th buggy and they are definetly bringing 1/8 tires and wheels to market so that's a good sign. We'll have to wait and see.

I have heard the same thing about Losi coming out with a buggy. The word is it will be out in 2006. As for AE who knows. I remember the day they were big in 8th scale onroad. You would think they would be doing some 8th scale racing.

Wink

They are getting their feet wet. We know that it is a matter of time before they are finished with their own versions.

I wish I had the resources to design and build a 1/8 buggy. I have some pretty good ideas.
If Losi built a 1/8 buggy that would break up some teams. haha

AE and TL already design a lot of R/Cs.Maybe they think 1/8 scale would be to competitive.

I really don't care if either co. designs an 1/8 scale,my 777 is awesome.

Plus we are not a Horizon dealer.

To be honest Im sick of driving Losi or AE. In electic offroad that is all to choose from. Its good to be about to have more then 2 picks and still be able to win.

In my opinion, why would Losi or Associated want to compete in such a competitive market of 7 or 8 different manufacturers when they can race against each other for 50% share or there abouts of the electric offroad scene?

The good thing I remember about racing an RC-10 was that you could always buy any part for it at any LHS. When there are 6 different kinds of cars racing, its hard to carry parts for all of them.
I would just like to see some big innovation in the 1/8 buggy scene.

They can always get a piece of the 1/8th scale pie while continuing their efforts in electric offroad.
