Axial Bomber 1/8 Scale Electronics
I'm sure someone here has been through this...
I have a Bomber - love it - loaded it with Incision parts because I'm cost-conscious and the Vanquish Ti parts are high-dollar. Some Vanquish parts have made in on, lots of stainless Incision parts. Now it's pretty heavy, and running on the stock 35T motor/ESC, and 3S LiPo. It gets really hot and needs a rest during hill climbs and such.
Now I have a 1/10 scale, 7.5 lbs "Rock racer" that I'm having trouble upgrading the motor/ESC in, because of its weight. I'm leaning toward 1/8th scale stuff, like the Hobbywing XR8 Plus and 4274SD-G2 (2250kV).
I have the Yeti 2 speed tranny, which is a tight fit with the motor on stock gears. I'm thinking that going up (more teeth) on both pinion and spur gears will allow me to rotate the motor away from the tranny enough to make room for the larger 1/8th motor while keeping the ratio reasonable and the motor mounting all stock - or the Vanquish replacement there of, for stiffness.
So, who's done it already? I'd love to learn from your experience before I spend my money!
Thanks a ton!
