I bought a D216 after only doing a little research when I was getting back into the hobby last year. I found that they had won several championships with their 1/8 and 1/10 4wd cars and that they seemed to be on their way to doing the same in 2wd. After I got my buggy I found that their #1 team driver was not even running the D216 but a one off hand built hybrid that had little to do with the D216. Now fast forward to the recent Euro championship at Reims and I see that the new Prototype looks an awful lot like a AE B6.1(d). My car is a good performer in it’s element of low traction tracks and has what I believe are the best shocks in 1/10, but it’s HB’s complete lack of set up and tuning support that has killed this car IMHO. They promised a ball diff that never came, parts were scarce for most of the D216 existence, and there is very little in the way of set up sheets because even their team drivers aren’t running the car. I hope all this is turned around for the new car, but it just seems like their heart is not in 2wd.
