Newbie.

So I just picked up a Losi 22s roller kit.
questions

- should I look for anything when choosing a servo? If so what? I assume it needs to be a full size not a shorty.

- motor size I assume 13.5 would be awesome to start toying with?

- batteries I’m completely lost.

any help greatly appreciated

Standard servo. High speed is not necessary.

13.5t is a good start, but it will be slow. They tend to run in the 2.9-3.1 second range. The 13.5t class is fun, but it isnt about speed.

If you run a 13.5t, you can run almost any 2s battery you've got. (MaH/1000) x C-rating = battery max output. The "standard" esc for a 13.5t being in the 60-80A range means you could go as low as a 4000mah 25C battery, but I'd suggest getting a nice 4000-5000mah 100c battery for when you want to go with a faster setup.

Agree with Nineball ... if I could do it over I would start with at least a 4.0t motor, the best ESC I could afford (or even get) and at least a 120C 2S LIPO battery to start. But it really depends on what you plan on doing.

Ya, High Speed not require, nor high torque is needed. Yet there is still that you get what you pay for factor to deal with.

The Hitec Drag Servo for 39.00 would be a good option for low cost. the cheap china servos may work, but many have centering issues. I'd avoid them for this build if I were you.

13.5 is the slowest class, however some area are running a "Box Stock" Class utilizing stock esc/motors and stock gear.

I would suggest a punisher 13.5 as they are said to be very fast motors for 13.5, and a decent enough ESC (Copperhead, Mamba x, MMax 160, or even a Sidewinder 4 may be ok on the 13.5 class) However if you are looking to go faster the more you get in, a better ESC wont be wasted money, Mamba Monster, RX8, DRK, XR10.

At least 100c rating 2S battery . Gens Ace have a 120c shorty pack around 4600mah for like 44.00

I picked up a couple Pro Match 2s 5000mah packs at 150C for 58.00 each for my drag packs.
