Maybe a mod can move this to the Drag forum...

The highlights:
  • 272R transmission including sealed diff and spider gears
  • Trans brake - acts like Tekin or Maclan's launch control
  • Short Extreme Duty driveshafts, no more hacksawing
  • Bump stops for the old traxxas shocks
  • Several NPRC rule-bending features like a 12.9" wheelbase, TSM, and the velineon 36x60 motor
  • ONLY $500!

Looks nice but solid $100 overpriced.

There is a bit to it. New Trans which has the new top shaft and 4x4 slipper setup, diff case and diff gear set, new rear shock tower, Trans brake radio. The gyro can be turned off on the rx.
Add the molded rear and front bumpers and grille to the very nice C10 body, front light buckets. the front foam bumper setup, Wheely bar, 2 sets of w/b wheels, the wide drag M/T slicks on the weld rims...as well as the new extreme duty rear drive shafts...

Its not just a bandit converted 2wd slash.
Drop in a DRK and she may be more than a handfull.

Why pay for features that are currently not allowed in NPDR?

Really, only the TSM is suspect. Everything else is NPRC and RCDRL legal.

The only problem I see is junk electronics. 3500kv sensorless wont be able to pull off many wins when anybody who wants to win is running 2.5-5.5t sensored. On top of that, every slash-based drag car I've seen hooks hard to one side. I don't know if it's all toe (they even have the parts already... mount 4x4 rear hubs backwards) or the transmission balance... the 36x58 velineon is considerably more than the common 36x50 motors.

If anything, maybe we'll see a roller or a kit version in the future. And when the parts get released, we can all replace our old transmissions the next time we blow out a top shaft.

Three problems I see with this car.....

1 ) people have already built a drag Slash, so why shovel out that kinda money for something we've already done? The Axial Wraith 1.9 had the same problem....it started as a custom build guys were doing with their trucks, then Axial decided to make a commercially available 1.9...nobody bought it because they'd already done it. Granted, this does have the new transmission, so we'll see.

2 ) that motor.....3500kv is WAY too slow for a drag car. You'd be able to run down the track faster. DR10 RTRs sit on the shelf because the 3300kv motor is slow. Now you shoe horn that Hoss motor into the drag car....let's talk. Maybe even justify that price with that motor.

3 ) that price. For a hundred bucks less you can pick up the new Losi drag car that will get down the track way faster with it's 6500kv motor.

$500, ouch. Seems like $399 should have been the price, just like the maxx should be $449, not $550.
Everyone is so darn excited about no prep, I have no where to run them :(
I can't see them selling many of these at $500 bucks with the DR10 and Losi cars out there.

Timmahh 06-07-2021 02:52 PM

I suspect we'll see the LOSi and AE go up a bit in price over the next few months. EVERYTHING is going up. This wont be any different.

Though I doubt Traxxas will up the price. But lets face it.

Socialism is going to drive the cost of EVERYING up by 50% over the next few months.

Better get ready.

Curious if the diff fits in a regular slash trans.

Negative. New diff, new tranny, new bearing sizes etc.

My drag slash came in last week, still haven't opened the box yet but will be testing soon. Lots of upsides and draw backs but I guess we will see which one I lean towards after testing it out.

My LTD (Local Traxxas Dealer) just posted a shot of 4 more drag slashes. I want to go get one.

but I need to save cash. Maybe I should sell one of the 3 I haven't yet ran. lol

Still thinking on one.
