Default New to Crawler

Hi, I have 11 years racing RC offroad and onroad, now I'm tired of racing and want to start with crawlers, please can you give me a guide for a good start.
I want to start with something like SCX II Kit, but want an experienced opinion if there is a better kit for start and after some time have a good ride to have fun.

Thanks for your help.

SCX 10 II is a good start. Lots of aftermarket and versatile.

It's a fine kit if that's what you want. Quite a few 1/10 scale option out there now worth looking at. Vaterra/Losi are a player, and HPI and Traxxas are also jumping in. About 10 or so "chinese" companies out there like TFL as well, many with decent quality.

Be aware Axials have been out of normal production for a while, and people are jacking up prices - shop around if you are looking for a II.

If you can find an scx10 II kit anywhere for a reasonable price then it is absolutely the best kit to start with right now in my opinion. Excellent performance right out of the box and aftermarket is growing bigger every day. The single problem is a big one though, as OSRC mentioned above, parts support and kits/rtr's are nowhere to be found right now. Concrete information as to why has been scarce, with the general consensus that a company that supplies axial with parts either burnt down or went out of business or some other totally different reason all together, who knows. Its worrying, but everyone is hoping they will be back asap.

I have gone through a lot of different cars since my son was 4 and he is 9 now. Since I got that Ascender from OSRC, he is wanting to drive it everyday. I think it is a combination of the kit itself and the mods OSRC did to make it drive so well. I am having issues with my Gelande 2. It doesn't turn as well as the Ascender. I had the original scx10, which my son liked as well. I am sure the scx10 2 is better the original. I would recommend the Ascender as well if it drives as well in stock form as the one I have now.

Rodrigo360 you might wanna check out the Gmade Sawback (Jeep) or Komodo (truck) both great crawlers not only do they have great detail and parts support but the price is right. The sawbuck has a leaf spring suspension the Komodo has a four link suspension.

My son fell in love with the gmade r1. All I heard was gmade r1 for months. (Lot of threads bash it.) it's the look that he and others digg. Put a dab of rtv gasket maker to help hold loose bearings. It's a solid cool ride. Used a Novak 13.5 and the esc out his rtr rc10sc to get going. Running some small 3s. It does not cog at all with the uncensored esc to my surprise. Must be because it's geared so low. Have better esc on way. He just wanted to get it going. It's a ball. There are a ton of hop ups for the kit. It's was a fun build. Got the kit from amain.

Gmade r1 is a great rig. I've had a couple and wouldn't mind another ( I get bored running the same rig) again.

Nope! The restocking date has been pushed back at least twice. And they were bragging about having limited stock just last week or so. Not a good sign.

I just finished building a gmade r1...besides steering being less than optimal, it is a great rig! Lots of hop ups available. I did a mod on the steering. I also have a sawback as well...Junfac makes a nice kit...
